Green Tea & Clementine Smoothie

Image
I told you I’d be back with more smoothies, and here I am. This is the second smoothie I tried for the detox experiment . Ingredients (for 1 person): 3 clementines; 250 mL of cold green tea; 2 or 3 mint leaves Preparation: Mix all ingredients in a blender until you obtain a homogenous mixture, and serve. The book says: “Green tea is rich in vitamin B, folates, manganese, potassium, magnesium, caffeine and other antioxidants, among which are catechins. This smoothie is a source of vitamins, facilitates digestion and is refreshing .”   This smoothie had really big summer vibes for me, as it was so cool and refreshing. Since I don’t really appreciate when smoothies come out really thick, the green tea made it more fluid for me and it made me enjoy it even more. I really recommend it. Summer Mint Smoothie

As promised, I’m going to leave you the recipes for the 3 smoothies I tried during that (disastrous) detox attempt . Even though I seriously don’t recommend trying the detox itself, the smoothies I tried were really delicious and therefore I feel comfortable sharing them with you. Ingredients (for 1 person): 1 apple; 2 oranges; 3 or 4 mint leaves (depending on their size); Preparation: Mix all ingredients in a blender until you obtain a homogenous mixture, and serve.   The books says: “Oranges are filled with polyphenols that protect us from viral infections . This smoothie is a source of vitamins , strengthens the immune system and is detoxifying .   To me, this smoothie was amazing in particular because it transported me to a time in my childhood where my mother used to make me apple and orange juice in a machine we still have to this day, it was a happy throwback moment for me. Story Time: A Smoothie Disaster

Image
About two weeks ago I mentioned a book, Fern Green’s Smoothie Detox Bible and I said I was thinking of trying the 3-day detox plan, just to see what would happen. And I did. Kinda... I feel like I need to start by saying that crazy diets are a bunch of bullshit and never worthy. I went into this not seeing it as a diet (I was only trying it for a few days) but as an experience to write about afterwards. So, if you ever feel like you need to make a change in your life, when it comes to your eating habits, please always make sure to do it safely and with guidance from a professional . Now, back to the topic at hand. I read through the entire book and chose the recipes I wanted to try out for the 3 days, bought everything and then it started. I had my breakfast smoothie and tea and decided I was going to take some lessons from my course. Let me tell you, I had NO energy. Nothing. Partially is was my fault, because only after did I realize that there were better smoothie options fo...

Detox Smoothie (Low Carb)

I told you I’d be back with this recipe and some more pictures, of course! The good thing about recipes like this is, as long as you have all the ingredients and a blender, you can make new and exciting things in a wink of an eye! Ingredients: 2 medium carrots 1 orange 200mL of green tea 1 mint leaf 1 basil leaf Preparation: Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until its homogeneous. For a more refreshing feel you can add ice. Now, here’s some tips for this recipe in particular. This drink will be particularly pulpy , if you’re not really into that texture you can always add a bit more orange or tea or you can strain the mix into your cup (but that will be a bit counter-productive). Also, if you don’t have green tea, just use another one you like! As you can see from the previous picture, I used lemon balm tea, as it has lots of great properties and I use it as the “go to tea” for almost everything. Click here for more delicious recipes!
