Summer Mint Smoothie

Image
As promised, I’m going to leave you the recipes for the 3 smoothies I tried during that (disastrous) detox attempt . Even though I seriously don’t recommend trying the detox itself, the smoothies I tried were really delicious and therefore I feel comfortable sharing them with you. Ingredients (for 1 person): 1 apple; 2 oranges; 3 or 4 mint leaves (depending on their size); Preparation: Mix all ingredients in a blender until you obtain a homogenous mixture, and serve.   The books says: “Oranges are filled with polyphenols that protect us from viral infections . This smoothie is a source of vitamins , strengthens the immune system and is detoxifying .   To me, this smoothie was amazing in particular because it transported me to a time in my childhood where my mother used to make me apple and orange juice in a machine we still have to this day, it was a happy throwback moment for me. Antioxidant Smoothie

Yesterday, I brought you a great recipe for a Detox Smoothie , and right next to it, in my little book, was another recipe for and antioxidant smoothie, so I couldn’t resist it and I tried it! Ingredients: ½ of a banana 60g of blackberries 6 strawberries 100 mL of water 1 tea spoon of chia seeds 1 mint leaf Preparation: Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until its homogenous. For a more refreshing feel you can add ice. I cannot describe how amazing this one tasted! In fact, is was so, so good that I’m going to do it again today. Even my dad, who refuses to try anything different from what he’s used to, liked it! This time I had to buy all fruits necessary for this recipe, but I’m hoping that soon I’ll be able to have enough organic strawberries and blackberries from my own garden to make these recipes even more amazing! Also, I found this book, coincidentally: It’s Fern Green’s Smoothy Detox Bible and it is packed with ton...

Quarantine Thoughts - Day 32

I love food and always loved eating. Wasn’t always really opened to trying out new things, but with time that changed. The biggest factor that changed how I viewed new food and tastes was learning how to cook . As I learned my way around the kitchen, new ideas and curiosities started popping in my head. Now I love cooking and trying new things. Cooking is an extra special experience for me because I am fortunate enough to have many of the things I need in the nature that surrounds me. We plant loads of vegetables and also have chickens that give us the most amazing eggs (oh yeah, our eggs are the most important part of our cakes ). What I’m most passionate about are herbs . There’s nothing more satisfying to me than starting a dish and then going outside and gathering some fresh herbs right out of the garden and into the pot. Lately, I’ve also become really interested in energy, crystals and learning about useful properties that come from my herbs (that’s why I say I’m a par...

Detox Smoothie (Low Carb)

Image
I told you I’d be back with this recipe and some more pictures, of course! The good thing about recipes like this is, as long as you have all the ingredients and a blender, you can make new and exciting things in a wink of an eye! Ingredients: 2 medium carrots 1 orange 200mL of green tea 1 mint leaf 1 basil leaf Preparation: Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until its homogeneous. For a more refreshing feel you can add ice. Now, here’s some tips for this recipe in particular. This drink will be particularly pulpy , if you’re not really into that texture you can always add a bit more orange or tea or you can strain the mix into your cup (but that will be a bit counter-productive). Also, if you don’t have green tea, just use another one you like! As you can see from the previous picture, I used lemon balm tea, as it has lots of great properties and I use it as the “go to tea” for almost everything. Click here for more delicious recipes!
