Quarantine Thoughts - Day 11
Today I felt kind of anxious
and stressed. I don’t remember any reason in particular for it. Stress
was considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) the health
epidemic of this century. They define it as a real, or perceived, unbalance
between a circumstances’ demand and the ability of adaptation of the person.
Weather we like it or
not, stress is a part of our lives and if on the one hand it can be useful as
it makes us take action, on the other hand it can physically and mentally impair
us.
How to deal with
stress
The times of nail biting
and hair pulling are over! Check out 5 ways of dealing with stress:
1. Writing
– No, journaling is not just for hormonal teenagers. Writing is a personal and
safe way to release all the feelings and thoughts that haunt you throughout the
day. I’ve went into a bit more detail about it, here.
2. Cooking
– A delicious carrot cake with chocolate frosting, some ginger cookies, a
cheesecake... Is your mouth watering? Good! Besides focusing all our attention
on the recipe we’re using, in the end, you get an amazing snack!
3. Affirmations – Sometimes, a big part of the negativity (a
huge cause of stress) in our lives comes from ourselves, when we forget about
how special we are. So, a good way to practice positivity and self-love is by
creating a board with positive affirmations that we can read every day like: “I’m
worth it.”
4. Self-care routine – In the middle of so much worry, we forget that we’re
important and the we deserve attention and care. One way of releasing stress
starts by turning our phones off and, for example, trying out that new exfoliant
or that face mask and enjoying a glass of your favorite drink... Make time for
yourself!
5. DIY – For
the more creative minds, there’s nothing better than a DIY project. Finishing a
project gives you that sensation of accomplishment and makes you feel better
about yourself. So, pick 2 or 3 projects and, whenever you need it, start
working!
